Baptismal Cross Spanning Generations

"Our first grandchild will be baptized tomorrow wearing an almost 100 year old gown from one side of the family and this gold nugget cross Rick Hartley made from old family jewelry on my side of the family. The cross is identical to the one I was given in 1951 for my baptism and made from gold nuggets on a brooch engraved with my great grandfather's name. Someone in the store looked up the jeweler who made the gold nugget broach in Fairbanks, giving me a little bit of history I might have overlooked - even a picture of the storefront. Just three weeks old today, our grandson is the 5th generation from his parents who owned the broach from which the cross was made. I know this little cross will be treasured and is a tangible link to previous generations who gave us life."
