These 2 stoneware canisters, measuring 5 inches wide and a tad under 3 inches tall are really unique item. As a canister set, they can sit on your kitchen counter and hold whatever you would like. The deep blue slides down the sides and pools in the finger marks I left during the throwing of these pieces, and becomes even a darker blue. I added a copper knob on the top for easy pickup of the lids. The lids are interchangeable as well.
But what makes these canisters unique is that they don't have to be used as canisters. Take away the lids, and the become Oven Crocks, Bread Crocks! Use them when you want to bake a small loaf of bread, banana nut bread, pumpkin bread, beer bread!
All you have to do is just spray your crock with a little Pam, put it in the oven to warm up along with the oven to no higher than 375 for about 8-10 minutes, take it out, pour in your batter, and return to oven for baking. After it is done, allow the bread to sit in the crock for a few minutes, then just put on your oven mitts and grab the crock and turn it upside down, and your bread just pops right out! Allow the crock to cool completely before wiping it down with a paper towel, or if you have a few stuck on pieces of crust, just hand wash it in soapy water. They are dishwasher safe, but I just don't like to put mine in the dishwasher to accidently bump into another item in there. So to be safe I just usually just wipe it out.
You will love the versatility of these canisters/crocks. They will look beautiful in any kitchen, or on a sideboard.
