Beck Lakehouse, Paola, Kansas

I think the most fun thing to build in this house was the light cloud over the kitchen island. It's made of old barn beams and metal straps and spans 8 feet.

The stairs were great too, thick white oak beams were cut to make the treads, giving a heavy profile from the side.

Oh yeah, I also laid the floors, hung the ceiling T&G and the ceiling beams. Not to mention all the hickory cabinetry! Plus the really old oak beam mantle on the fireplace - nice touch.

I spent so much time working there that I thought I would just move in - but alas, I had to give the place back to the client. : ) But not after I took many breaks to go for a swim!
