A Bench can be not only a functional but a beautiful decorative piece for a living or family room, the bedroom, entryway or any special purpose room.

The "Shrine Gate" bench in the main photo was inspired by 1930's photo of a ceremonial entrance gate to a Shinto shrine on Mt Fuji. The original commission was from a VA couple seeking a functional bench for their small art gallery in the home. The design task: something functional, attractive, and kind-of Asian. The result was this bench in Cherry and ebonized Maple with an inlay strip of curly maple in the top. Oil & varnish finish

A second example is the "Fireside" bench, shown in Maple with a stain and varnish finish. Designed to accommodate a free cushion and to be both decorative and functional setting by the fireplace at the customer's country cottage.

Lastly, an example of a blanket chest for the bedroom. Shown in Hard Maple and Cherry. With the flip-top seat and back, this chest doubles as a bench. Can be cedar lined.

Prices vary based on scale, materials and other features. As shown, Shrine Gate Bench is $1,250; Fireside Bench is $950; Blanket Chest is $1,750. Call or e-mail for additional details on dimensions, features or pricing.
