A collaboration of master calligrapher, Shinko Tanaka, and Gyotaku print by Dwight Hwang of two 'Saint Peters Fish' or Tilapia, surrounded by Christian scripture, written in traditional Japanese calligraphy! The reason tilapia was chosen for this particular print is because it is widely assumed that the fish that Jesus's disciples were catching, were tilapia. As tilapia was and still is the main food fish caught in the region. And thus was also called the "Saint Peters Fish."
The calligraphy is quoting Matthew 4:19. "Follow me and I will make you Fishers of Men."
Makes a great gift for that Christian angler, nature lover or any one who loves fish and appreciates this unique Japanese art form.
Faithful to the original Japanese style of creating memorable prints for the avid fisherman; simple and monochromatic. Handsome and would be VERY stunning behind a glass frame on any wall of ones home or office.
Print is 13x19 inches with a one inch border.
The two red stamps represent Shinko's name (top) as well as my name (bottom).
Photos of the framed sample is simply to show you what it would look like behind glass!
