I designed this shelf to look like a bird (some say it looks like an open book as well). It can hang on a wall (which, in my opinion, looks best) or simply be placed on a desk.
It hangs on the wall via tabs welded to the two bookends, spaced to overlap the studs in your wall. It's very sturdy and easily handles being completely full of books. As soon as you put books on it, the brackets get hidden. Many first time viewers can't figure out how the shelf is hung.
The surface texture of the metal is Engine Turned aluminum. The circles you see are all put in by me personally, and they give the shelf a really unique look. I use a course grit disc to put them in, giving the circles a much "clearer" look than the commercially produced engine turned merchandise.
The shelf comes with spacers to make the books curve along with the aluminum, as well as instructions and screws to hang up the shelf.
