Black Locust & Glass Dining Fixture

This idea came to us from the client. They approached my friends at the glass Studio with a rough sketch of a rectangular box form with fused glass forms hanging under the lights. This was one of our first commissions together. Since the fixture was mostly to be about the glass, I refined the box into a canoe shape and devised a system of hanging the glass, via hammered steel wires, from a perferated metal panel above the lights. The wood side panels are veneers I made form some pieces of Black Locust saved as lumber from the lot clearing. The front door and dining table were also made from the same tree. I like collaborative work. It helps to broaden my design scope.

MATERIALS: aluminum, steel, wood, and glass.

DIMENSIONS: 60" long x 8" wide x 19" deep (longest glass to top of wood side panels)
