Modern Art Mobile for the minimalist home. What a fantastic piece of art for the minimalist home. It features clean lines and great styling. It moves very gracefully and is quite large. At 41 inches wide it would be a great addition to your modern living area or look great above a kitchen island. In the modern nursery it can easily transition from the nursery to the big kids room. It hugs the ceiling making it great for homes with lower ceilings. See below for more construction detail info.
Approx Measurements - 41" wide x 17" tall - Needs a space at lest 45 inches wide to move freely! The components are the thickness of one credit cards on edge to keep the sculpture light and moving in very soft air currents. Components range in size from 1-1/2" x 4" to 2-1/2" x 6-1/2".
I have had quite a few requests for solid colored sculptures. Today I present a new line of sculptures. Same great designs but in solid colors. The photos may show shadows which may make the sculpture appear to be different shades of the same color but the mobile pieces are solid colors. The components are created with an acrylic molded plastic material, very similar to the thin cutting boards you find in the housewares section of your favorite department store. Extremely light, cleaning friendly, and made to last and last. This new line of solid color sculptures can be placed in higher moisture areas like your porch, patio, or bathroom. But, like a fine sculpture, it should not be kept in direct sunlight or within reach of a sweet baby's hands.
THE STORY BEHIND THE ART
I finally quit my day job 01/11/13! Now I have the great pleasure and joy of creating these great mobiles daily. I begin by cutting the shapes and then carefully connecting them to the stainless steel wire. Then a perfect balancing act begins while I twist and bend the wire into perfectly balanced sculptures.
Upon completion, I sit back and watch the movement, making sure it flows nicely and is interesting to watch. Each one is made one by one, handmade with quality and love. The wire is stainless steel. They are very well made and should last for many many years and quite probably a lifetime. My influences are Timothy Rose, Bruce Gray and of course the master, Alexander Calder!
