This project was commissioned having the client desire the thin look of steel cutting through the plane of the room. As artists and collectors, the clients desired storage for their large collection of over sized art books. Together, we came up with a concept drawing, and tectonic details were worked out to accommodate the desired visual effect.
The table is mounted to the wall via a machined cleat that is tied into the superstructure supporting the 1/4" thick top. The structure adds rigidity as well as sound damping to the large 36
"x 74" tabletop. The leg of the table was built separately, allowing for transport to the tables destination, the 25th floor!
The book shelves are a simple design, made to reflect those on the table leg.
