Copper gets a bad rap in the jewelry world. It turns skin green, causes allergic reactions, doesn’t shine well and oxidizes easily. The people that prefer its look often opt for rose gold as the better alternative. But when a man is intent on pleasing and proposing to his copper-loving lady, he’ll find a way to make it work.
After several attempts to find jewelers willing to work with copper, Don turned to CustomMade and sought the expertise of Chris & Alix Jewelry. Despite the laundry list of downsides of copper, Chris & Alix promised Don they could find a way to make his unique engagement ring work.
To retain the raw and natural look of copper, but to minimize the risk of a green finger, Chris & Alix designed a hybrid engagement ring made up of a gold interior and copper exterior.
Copper inclusion wasn’t Don’s only uncommon request. Knowing his fiance-to-be’s inclination toward emeralds, Don requested an emerald solitaire, which is hardly ever done thanks to the relative softness of the precious gem. Taking on task #2, Chris & Alix suggested setting the emerald in the same gold as the interior to provide strength and protection for the emerald.
The end result is breathtaking. Not only is it a completely one-of-a-kind engagement ring, but it’s also a ring made without limitations and exactly how Don envisioned it.</p
