This custom-made chuppah features blue morpho butterflies, a symbol for the couple of joy and freedom. The border is ringed with a stanza from a Pablo Neruda poem:
"Te amo sin saber come, ni quando, ni de donde: te amo directamente, sin problemas ni orgullo. Asi te amo, porque no se amar de otra manera." (I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where. I love you simply, without problems or pride. That is how I love you, because I do not know how to love in any other way.)
A chuppah helps to create a special ceremonial space for the couple within the setting they have chosen for their wedding celebration. These butterflies provided a shelter of fluttering wings for the couple as they stood on a slope in the Blue Ridge Mountains on a crystal clear day.
