This table is made from blue-stained pine. The wood naturally turns the blue color when the tree is attacked by pine beetles, there is no stain added. Because of the insect infestation of the tree it will most likely not survive. This condition is happening to thousands and thousands of trees along the Rocky Mountain range, creating a fire hazard. The harvesting of the dead trees helps with the long term heath of the forest and makes some really cool looking furniture as well.
The top is made from 1.25" thick blue-stained pine which has a tung oil finish. The base is made from steel. The welds on the base have been ground smooth and a black patina has been applied to darken the exposed shiny metal. The base is sealed with a satin lacquer.
