"Borrowed Time" - Fused Glass & Stone Sculpture

I enjoyed the whole process of working with Karla Ely. She kept me up to date on progress and consulted with me on decisions. I am thrilled with
the final outcome and look forward to working with Karla again.
Mixed media sculpture featuring fused glass, marble, and steel.
This piece started out as a challenge; I wanted to see how far I could push the glass medium in manipulating it... note the clock.
I was successful on my first try, so I had to make something to go with it.
The head is of white Colorado marble, shaped to the desired form. Onto this I affixed fused glass eyes, mouth and moustache.
A steel rod rising out of the base of gray marble holds securely, as I drilled up into the head 3" and applied epoxy (same for the other end).
Now that I had assembled the "backdrop", I was all set to mount the focal point...the clock.
