Built-in breakfast nook, made with Maple, old growth Douglas Fir, and Cherry. The customer wanted a specific look that she saw in a magazine, but we modified it to be more comfortable while sitting around the kitchen.
The pedestal table is built using pinned mortise and tenon joinery, which is wooden dowels, drilled and glued through the tenons ensuring they never come loose. The benches are built also using pinned mortise and tenon joints. The framework is all maple, the seat backs are maple with douglas fir seat backs and plywood seats. The chair was purchased, and painted to match.
