The homeowner had an existing mantle but the style did not lend itself to this space. We used their concept, reworked it to make it proportional to the room and added some small details for visual appeal. We built the mantle in our shop, finishing it with a high quality conversion varnish that is much more duable, abrasion resistant than paint, delivered it and removed the old mantle. Installation took a full day, the homeowner opted to do the final touchup painting.
