The lawyer's office was an unusual shape--sort of a cube with an extension that is elliptical on one side and a straight line on the other. The lawyer wanted a division in his office to seat a client. Any rectilinear layout took too much space. The counter is part of an elliptical arc that maximized the shape of the space. No simple oval, the ellipse is infinitely variable.
