Bullet-Top Pine Slab Coffee Table

Not all great loves are obvious, sometimes they start out slow and sometimes they start out with a bang. This love story begins sometime before disco was yet inflicted upon the world, when a bullet was pressed out of lead in an unknown factory, shipped to Maine inside a box with its peers, and eventually purchased for the use it was intended.

At some point this very average bullet was loaded into a rifle, rested in the chamber for a moment and then experienced its last second of daylight while streaking over a Maine hay field at 2000 feet per second before being embraced by a white pine tree.

Despite the force with which the bullet met the pine it was a match made in Maine. The pine enveloped the bullet with loving care and they could not be parted, even when the tree was felled and milled and then built into a barn in Eddington, Maine. For 40 years the clandestine love of the bullet and the pine stood the test of time until the barn was razed and the boards planed down to reveal a unique piece of history. Never the two shall be parted.

The top of this table is a single uncut piece of Maine white pine that proudly displays a bullet sized chunk of 40 year old metal. The base is 2" raw steel, left in its natural color.
