I've made several of these bunny rabbit children's plates over the years. Most of them sold to people wanting a special new baby gift. I understand they start on the wall in the nursery!
I begin making the bunny on my potter's wheel with my porcelain clay. After trimming, it is modified using slips and clay addition's of tail, eye and nose as well as slightly paddling the rim on the rabbit's foot side. After drying, I've handpainted all over using food safe underglazes.. Then it is bisque fired. Afterward, I paint three coats of food safe clear glaze and glaze fire to 2243 degrees F., so that it rings when pinged. Not counting the tail, it is almost 8" in diameter and 1 3/4" high. It has a nice fat rounded lip, high sides and a good weight to it so it won't easily hop across the table! It is microwave and dishwasher safe too.
