Card Table
This table is 42" across and seats four comfortably. The clients had purchased four chairs from a high-end production factory but couldn't find a table with the unique quality they were looking for. They knew they wanted the main wood to be cherry and they wanted the top to have some decorative veneer work. After drawing a small series of rough sketches we came up with solid legs that splay out subtly to match the splay on the legs of their chairs. The top (a radial match veneer) was covered with crotch cherry. Although this veneer is not often found in such large dimensions I was able to locate enough for this job. The intense figure in the veneer and the rich color of the wood give the top a brilliance that I brought out with a highly varnished finish.
