Chair Cushion For Jolene's Baby Chair
My friend approached me to design and make a cushion for her daughter's rocking chair. She was interested in using buckwheat hulls as the filling and knew I had ordered quite a bit for making zafu meditation pillows.
I made a cushion lining with muslin material and unfinished edges, which I stuffed with buckwheat hulls so it would lay full and flat. I made the cushion cover the same dimensions, to match the chairs natural angle.
Since the cushion needs to be washable (it's for an 18 month old), I did overlapping flaps in the back, with buttons to hold the cover closed. Ties are a must, as this little one is very interested in climbing, and the cushion needs to stay while she wiggles.
I used commercial fabrics chosen and purchased by my friend. The range in price below indicates if I would purchase fabrics or use on e of my self-designed fabrics, or if you would purchase a commercial fabric.
