Silk Shawl, hand-felted of cashmere-soft merino wool and accent fibers, in a semi-sheer collage effect that floats gracefully around your shoulders. Accent any dress and add a light, airy layer of warmth. Nuno Felt is the term for this luxurious art-to-wear textile, heirloom-worthy & a treasure for always.
SIZE: approx. 20 x 90 inches
TURNAROUND: Made-to-order in approx. 3-4 weeks (details below)
COLOR SHOWN: Natural offwhite. The last photo shows a similar piece in the color Prosecco (like a peachy champagne color.)

*What it is: Nuno felt is a technique of sandwiching thin layers of fine fibers and gradually, gently coaxing them using pressure, soap and water, to form a fusion (bond) that becomes very light, soft yet very strong and sturdy & durable fabric. The fibers are first dyed, then laid out in a visually pleasing composition of color and textures. leaving some areas very sheer or open in contrast to the opaque areas. Making durable nuno felt involves patience, time and experience to know just how much pressure, soap and water is needed at each stage of the process.

*Easy to Wear: This artful accessory graces any dress as a shawl, or any outfit as a scarf. Wear this various ways, either draped freely or wrapped around close around your shoulders, bunched around the neck, looped or tied, or pinned as a stole. Drape it dramatically over one shoulder & let it trail down your back, style it as a cowl or tie it front as a stole…..there are lots of ways to make use of such a unique and dreamy accessory.

*How to Request a Custom Piece: If you like this concept but want different colors or size, simply convo me to let me know what you need. I will be pleased to work with you to create your ideal piece.

*Care: Treat this just as you would any piece of fine lingerie. Hand wash gently in cool water, using a very mild soap such as Dawn dishwashing liquid. Rinse well in cool water, then gently blot out excess moisture with a towel taking care to avoid wringing it. Reshape and hang over a rod to air dry. If you wish, you can gently steam it to remove any wrinkles or smooth the edges. If you ever snag it accidentally or pull a fiber loose, just tug all around it to work in back in if possible, or just carefully snip off any excess thread that bothers you.

*Also Good to Know: I use natural, sustainable fibers and no animals are ever harmed in my process. My fibers come from farms where animals are well treated and absolutely never abused. My dyes are eco-friendly (non-toxic.) I make everything myself, all with my own hands, in my studio located near Seattle, Washington. Each piece I make is truly unique given my handmade process – I may repeat a general idea, but no two pieces can ever be precisely alike.

LEAD TIME: See my shop announcement for current turnaround information. My usual turnaround runs 12-15 business days (not counting holidays.) Holiday and peak productions periods will affect the turnaround, so please check with me if you have a specific date of need.

OOAK: Each piece is individually crafted, and slight variations are inherent to the handmade process. Variances are minimal and insignificant to overall quality and effect.
