Small walnut and maple box.
Imagine pushing in on the four sides of a cube of clay. The sides would deflect inward and the top would bulge upwards. Box Checkerboard 17 is the result. The box is constructed with 48 black walnut and maple blocks. Checkerboard #17 also demonstrates the trade off between a geometric checkerboard pattern and the smooth flowing curves of the box itself.
This box measures approximately 2 3/4" x 2 3/4" x 2 1/2"
