Cherry And Maple Prayer Shawl Cabinet
This cabinet was commissioned by a synagogue in Rochester, NY for storage of prayer shawls. The cabinet is constructed of cherry with door, side and back panels of maple. The door and side panels are hand carved to create a textural contrast with the highly polished frame. Low relief carving on the bottom front rail suggests the cabinet's function, echoing the design of a prayer shawl. Door pulls are hand carved from wenge.
