Lou has been cutting down his own Christmas Trees since 1998. Plus, he has been keeping the bottom stump of each of his trees to make two set of handsome coasters.
The best parts of each stump were cut into 1/4-3/8" slices and sanded down before a stylish Christmas year was etched into the center of each coaster.
After 4 coats of glossy polyurethane were sprayed on each pine coaster (wood ends soak up poly pretty quickly), each set was ready to display in a custom made wooden box with rustic brass hardware. Custom made interior slots were assembled based on the thickness of each coaster so that 13 years of coasters fit nicely into each glossy box. A Christmas tree was etched into the top of each box to make for a finished presentation.
Lou now has many Christmas memories packed into each coaster and will be able to reminisce with his family while they share a beverage or two with his new coaster sets.
