Claro Walnut + Copper Live Edge Midcentury Modern Dining Table: The April Live Edge
A Moderncre8ve Original Design!
This dining table was designed for my wife April, for our own home. I usually swap our dining table every few years one; of the few perks of making your own furniture.
Design wise this piece started with the idea of the leg system, but as the build progressed I had felt the need to modernize the piece and break up the "wood on wood on wood" feel by adding solid copper leg plate and matching copper screws, which were impossible to find. In the final hour of the build, I decided to further push the design envelope by adding custom CNC milled butterfly "suture" inlays in the checked areas of the slab to stabilize them, and echo some of the copper details on other areas of the piece.
Design time totaled 3.5 months between our other projects and "normal" orders, in which i made pattern templates, and distilled the final design so it could be replicated and available for our customers.

Claro walnut Live Edge Slab, sourced from northern California, with a stunning deep chocolate browns, with some reddish/purpilish tones in it as well. Smaller holes and inclusions were stabilized with dark tinted epoxy.
Leg system is crafted from 8/4" solid walnut with a sculpted midcentury modern inspired leg system, and plugged with solid copper rod.
Hand rubbed oil finish, finished with matte water based topcoat. Copper has been buffed to a mirror polish and sealed with an anti tarnishing compound.
Lead time for this piece is 6-10 weeks.
