Deep emerald green cloche, a bit asymmetrical on the front, like a bit of a curtsy. It has a stiff and proper dark navy ribbon and bow that brings out the richness of the color of the felt.
I blocked this hat years ago. I can't even remember when. It's been sitting on my hat stand waiting to be trimmed and finished for ages. I sort of forgot all about it. The green was too forest green to catch my attention, but I promised myself (and my husband) that I would finish some of those orphaned hats before I blocked any new ones.
I picked it up and found a ribbon for it. Somehow that very dark blue ribbon completely changed the color and style of this hat. It was like a magic wand hit it. It's sassy. Feels like going to a garden party in a flapper dress. And the color went from boring forest to lush-- like a moss garden in Kyoto right after the rain.
I evidently blocked this in my "small hat" period. Roughly half of the women that talk to me about hats say they have a small head, and the other half say they have a big head. This one is for the more diminutive. I could stretch it a bit, but I no longer have access to this block, so I have some limitations.
I use the highest quality materials available, and do my best to source my supplies from small businesses. The magic ribbon came from a manufacturer in the United States that I recently found. The felt is high grade millinery velour felt. It is exceedingly soft to the touch and rich in color. I love to line my hats in thai silk in brilliant colors. Linings don't have to match-- they are your secret. I have not yet lined this hat. When you order it, I will find a beautiful color that will be a complete surprise.
I block each hat on antique wooden hat blocks, and I make each stitch by hand with a needle and thread. It takes me roughly 16 hours to create a hat by hand. I'm a little crazy, but I truly do love the process. I want you to love this hat as much as I do. I am very happy to fix problems that may arise.
