Cloisonné enamel cactus necklace, saguaro cactus jewelry
Using the technique cloisonné enamel makes up the landscape portion of this pendant. It entails carefully bending pure silver ribbons of wire and fusing them to a pure silver surface with clear enamel. The following layers of enamel are colored with a layer of pure silver foil chips fused under the colored enamel. This piece took 20 firings in the kiln. After all the firings are complete the enamel gets sanded down so the wires are flush to the glass. The next step is the enamel gets sanded to a high polish, which gives a gorgeous effect of depth and translucency to the glass enamel. After that, it is bezel set in a handcrafted sterling silver, 14 karat rose and yellow gold accented setting. A rose cut Moonstone is set in a 22 karat gold fused bezel. The technique is quite labor intensive but the results are a magical beautiful piece of finely handcrafted jewelry. The pendant measures and comes with a sterling rounded box chain.
