One of the coolest coffee tables ever! This coffee table is made from an oyster-shaped (round) live edge slab of Myrtle. It's a tree slice aka crosscut slab taken from a burl (abnormal growth). The burl growth is what provided such an unusual shape and almost cartoon-like natural curvatures along the edges. It's colors vary between tan, gold, beige, brown, purplish, gray and even has some black line spalting across the surface. There are a couple of ingrown bark inclusions on the surface that also add to its visual interest. The larger drying checks (cracks) and voids have been filled in with a tinted resin. The top has been kiln-dried, flattened, sanded smooth and finished in multiple coats of a satin poly. The film finish is durable enough to withstand your cup of hot coffee, hot plate of food, a sweating drink, having the remote control tossed on top of it and essentially anything else one would expect to do with a coffee table. It's not just eye candy for your living space, it's tough! The top has been fitted to four tapered and angled folded steel legs that have been sprayed in a black finish. The legs have circular feet beneath their straight-line verticals and felt pads beneath them to protect your flooring. This is an incredible live edge coffee table with an industrial, contemporary, modern, mid century, art deco and organic feel. Not only is it awesome, it's BIG!
