Here are some details on the project from the maker: as discussed, this proposal is for a 48" X24" X 16" coffee table. it will be made with either a reclaimed chestnut or reclaimed oak top. it will be about 1" thick and be smooth to the touch while still retaining some of the characteristics of reclaimed wood.
the base will be made of salvaged steel and will have 4 legs, two side rails and some cross bracing that will be basically unseen.
