This incredible fabric sculpture is created from silk dupioni and digitally printed silk. It's massive size is 43 x 28 easily becoming the focal point of any room. Yards of silk were used to create the center portion of sculpted fabric using the technique of shibori and dyed with Cochineal. Shibori is a labor intensive process that uses heat to manipulate fabric wrapped around objects. This sculpture took over 50 hours and 2 1/2 years of study to create and has 4 other "sister" sculptures. It is a landscape of shapes that are reminiscent of the artist's South Florida reefs. Mounted and ready to hang, simple dusting with a clean, dry rag is the only cleaning required.
