Cork Board
Arts + Labor is a rapidly growing hub of filmmakers, sound engineers, cinematographers, and graphic designers. These people are creative and always have ideas in their heads, but they're also busy. This large cork board is a way for different people to share different ideas and inspirations to everyone else in the building.
The cork board is 7' by 3' and is trimmed out using teak thats been stained a darker tint. When looking straight at it, the trim border is only 1/4" thick, which look fragile, but with the way the frame is made it is more than strong enough. The reason for the thin frame is because when the cork is filled with inspirations, I wanted the frame to almost disappear, placing more focus on the content.
Another design element which is a little lost in the photo is that the cork board is off of the wall about 1/4" which makes the cork board look as if it's floating in mid air. Although the cork board is large, I wanted the appearance of lightness.
