An elegant alternative to wearing a mermaid bra and tail and exposing the belly, this Ariel inspired mermaid dress is built like an evening dress with all the details of being under the sea.

Starting with the skirt built with ruffles that cascade down linearly from the hip to the hem with alternating ruffles (gold glitter turquoise organza, green shimmer organza, turquoise shimmer organza, and sea green shimmer organza), each ruffle is separately hemmed and ruffled into a seam. The body of the bottom is an irridescent woven material that changes from purple to turquoise when you move, constantly giving the illusion that you change color like a mystical mermaid power.

The top is built with nude and gold fabrics, a satin underlining with a chiffon hand pleated overlay from front to back. Side invisible zipper. Nearing the front, the cups are built into the dress with the illusion that is apparent with most mermaid drawings (the cups just magically cover the bust with no apparent rigging). The cups themselves are made from a sparkle pleated glimmer fabric in purple and silver adding another layer of detail to our sparkly mermaid dress. Surrounding the cups are beads, pearls, and crystals in multi-color purples turquoises, greens, and blues forming a V down to the belly button area of the dress as if to suggest that this mermaid came out of the water dripping in jewels.

As an additional accent, each dress comes with pearl beaded straps. The straps are removable should you wish to wear the dress strapless, or there if you want them. The straps are more for elegance and decoration, built on elastic cord that stretches and adjusts. Each gown comes with built in hanger straps. Ideally this dress should be worn over a trumpet slip (sold separately) that flattens the waist to hip area and flares out towards the bottom.
