Cradle

The stand is made from curly claro walnut.
After the legs are turned on the lathe I used an index plate to locate the position of the hexagon sections at the top and bottom and a router mounted on the cross slide to make the cuts. The hexagon shape at the top and bottom will ward off evil spirits - they also serve as a flat place on the post where the cross bar and the swinging basket can be attached.

The basket is white oak laminated from 1/8 inch pieces cut in sequence. Scarf joints are used to join the sections together. All corners are rounded over using both hand and power tools.

The finish is polyurethane varnish.

Dimensions: 44 inches wide, 26 inches deep, 48 inches tall
