Curly Tiger Maple Spice Chest With 11 Drawers

This is a beautiful Queen Anne Pennsylvania style spice chest. Built by myself of highly figured 5A tiger maple, it is based on period examples both in design and construction. The case is dovetailed along with the traditional bracket feet and 11 drawers. The door features a raised tombstone panel which you seldom see nowadays because of the hand carving required in the inside corners. All of the wood for the drawer fronts is carefully cut and matched from a single board. The drawer sides and backs are tulip poplar and the bottoms are maple. The back panels are ship lapped tiger maple. The entire piece is made of solid wood, no plywood or veneers anywhere. All of the hardware is top quality solid brass and the door has a mortised lock. As was common on original pieces this chest has secret compartments to be discovered by the buyer. Overall dimensions are 19 5/8" tall, 17" wide and 9 1/4" deep and weighs about 26 pounds. Original examples are rare and highly sought after often bringing 6 figures at auction. Here is your chance to own the next best thing at a fraction of the price but with the same craftsmanship and detail as an original. Please feel free to contact me with any questions.
