Abstract Art, Macro Photography (Painted Wooden Box, Layers Of Wax)

Mabel's Watercolor, Abstract Art, Archival Print, 2011 Look Studio

Mabel's Watercolor is a photograph of an antique wooden keepsake box using a macro lens that creates the effect of abstract art. The title comes from the name "Mabel" that is painted on the top of the box. Simple in design, the rectangular box was originally painted in bright colors, but the colors have become muted through the years.

The couple that commissioned this project had a very large wall to fill and were looking for a piece of abstract art to unite the colors in their room. We used Mabel's Watercolor to create six 3' panels. The overall size of the finished artwork was 9' x 6' which filled the space in perfect scale. I enhanced the colors in my photograph to resemble how they might have looked when the box was originally painted, and these colors integrate nicely with the client's space.

The couple has since added special lighting to highlight Mabel's Watercolor as the room's focal point. They are very pleased with the overall outcome and in fact recently let me know that they feel it's one of the best purchases they've ever made!

Creating abstract art is my passion. Pricing varies based on the size, type of print (gallery wrap, canvas or photo paper), and whether it is framed. Please contact me for further information and together we can create a unique piece of art just for you.
