Cherry Keepsake Treasure Box

This project was built as a gift for my son. It is made from solid cherry lumber with black walnut banding. The walnut is made to look like the iron strapping. The lid is "coopered." This means that it is made similar to the way they make wodden barrels.

The bottom of the chest and tray are lined with upholstery cloth to make a nice finishing touch. The Tray is joined together with Box/Finger joinery. This not only makes for a strong and durable joint, but also provides an attractive look.

These types of custom boxes are a specialty of mine. I have made many of different types using many different species of wood. I use the best hardware and put a great deal of time into finishing. "Fit and Finish" is my signature.
