Among other things I like to have the right tools handy for what I'm doing, one of the things this has brought about is my knife making.
When I make a knife it's being made for a job and a unique hand. The folks that I've made them for in the past have always been amazed by the balance and comfort that these knives provide during use. That all is there because from start to finish I'm creating a tool to be used.
From a small paring knife, filet, or even a 10" chef's knife, my aim is to produce something that works better and is more comfortable to use over an average tool.
When I make my tools I have an expectation of my work. I want and expect it to be used.
