Customer provided an existing company logo and wanted it to be translated into cuff links, to give them as a present to her husband. Since it was a geometric pattern it lent itself to my lapidary work. I used red spiny oyster shell for the red section, which being a natural material has veins, stripes and a variation in color. Customer agreed that it would give the links more character. For the black section I used onyx. They were both handcut and inlaid in sterling silver. This time I increased the width of the silver within the square to make them more prominent. Three corners were curved as the original logo and the fourth one was kept at a straight angle.
