Big Ben rises over the Houses of Parliament, as an iconic red bus motors by, an advert for the 2012 London Olympics barely visible on its side. But in the foreground, magic and play are the order of the day, as Neverland's pirate ship readies for its crew in the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Playground.

This stool was created as part of a set of four for a well-traveled family, to depict their favorite, most meaningful travel memories. This series of kitchen stools were created to complement the Custom Painted Dining Table with Travel Theme (see separate listing), and expand on that theme.

In the table, elements of the family's home city of Los Angeles appear, with compass points aiming at their favorite destinations, each pictured on a stool. Each city contains elements chosen by the client for very personal reasons--like the carousel in Paris where they spent the afternoon, or in this case, the park in London where their daughter loves to play. In each case, I took the sights and landmarks that had meaning for them, and distilled them into one image, to transport them back to a happy moment and a magical place.

As always, I start with high-quality, unfinished hardwood furniture from Maywood Shops, and hand paint them in painstaking detail with non-toxic acrylic and latex paints, and at least 3 coats of non-toxic sealer, so clean up is as easy a a swipe with a damp cloth.

Each piece is signed and numbered for authenticity. Please allow 6-8 weeks for completion.
