We were hired to design, build and install a custom Red Oak breakfast bar. The customer wanted a piece that would be a focal point between the kitchen/dining area and the living room. Ultimately, the customer wished to have a place where the family could congregate between the two areas. As a result, we created this design. It looks similar to a half of a surf board. The reason we designed and built it this was was because of the small amount of walking distance between the front entry door and the hallway leading to the bedroom and bathroom areas. Additionally, this design has a sleek and warm feel to it. The total dimension of this piece was 88 1/2" x 18" at the greatest point x 1 1/4 thick. We also built our own moldings using our shaping equipment and installed them underneath the breakfast bar for an outstandingly detailed look. Lastly, the piece was finished with three coats of Gunstock/Amber Shellac for a strong and durable finish.
