Custom Theater Marquee

Created for Middlebury, Vermont's Town Hall Theatre, a hand-forged steel marquee was erected. Collaborating with THT director, Doug Anderson, Ashar Nelson, longtime architect of Breadloaf Corporation, and Glenn Andres, Director of the Arts and Professor of the History of Art and Architecture at Middlebury College, Lou Nop has unveiled this stately marquee, to announce current and upcoming venues for the theater.
Measuring approximately 10 feet tall, by 3.5 feet wide the sculpture weighs in at an impressive 2000 pounds. The piece went through screening and approval by the Vermont Division of Historic Preservation, and was a gift by Carol Calhoun, who assisted in the design and creation of this sculptural, practical piece of art.
Besides through the newspaper, word-of-mouth, along with flyers and postings, current and future production news has been missing from the front of the Town Hall Theatre. People who are driving and walking by wonder what the building is used for." Says Carol Calhoun, volunteer at the theatre. "Now, there will be a way for people to know.

Two students from the local technical high school program have documented the process through film

Dimensions: 10 feet high by 3.5 feet wide, weighing 2000 pounds.
