THE STORY BEHIND THE ART
I can't wait to get out the door of my full time job! Each evening I have the great pleasure and joy of creating these great mobiles. I begin by creating an original watercolor painting. With brush in hand I begin to develop its look and what configuration I will use. I then permanently adhere the painting to sheet aluminum, cut and seal with a non-yellowing clear mat finish (archival and acid free quality). Then I carefully connect the components to the stainless steel wire and a perfect balancing act begins while I twist and bend the wire into perfectly balanced sculptures.
Upon completion, I sit back and watch the movement, making sure it flows nicely and is interesting to watch. Each one is made one by one, handmade with quality and love. The wire is stainless steel. They are very well made and should last for many many years and quite probably a lifetime. My influences are Timothy Rose, Bruce Gray and of course the master, Alexander Calder!
Like a fine painting this sculpture must be treated with care. No direct sunlight and no touching. Although I seal the watercolors with a clear acid free non-yellowing mat sealer, you should not place your sculpture in a high moisture area. They are made for interior art display only.
