Decorative Maple Burl
This is a slice of maple burl mounted on a spalted maple stand. Burls are abnormal growths on a tree and the cause is unknown. Where I live maple and cherry are the most common hardwoods that make burls. These are finished with clear acrylic poyurethane. The clear finish lets the natural beauty of the wood be the focus. The approximate size is 19" X 15".
