Derby Table Ed. One

The derby table series includes this edition, designed in and for Kentucky. The resulting aesthetic is the combination of the old and new, rooted in the craft and visual culture of the region. Its modern cabriolet-style legs are a nod to the elegant lines of a Thoroughbred's quarters.

A dinner table for six.
Sculpted edge tabletop (1.25" thick) with mortise and tenon cabriole legs (CNC fabrication was used).

The legs are each single board poplar and the table top is a glue up of three poplar boards. The poplar was sourced from Longwood Antique Woods in Lexington, KY and came from an old storage warehouse's support trusses (the resawn boards were 12" wide and 2" thick).

Considerations of craft and regionally-influence design combine to create this piece of heirloom quality furniture.

This edition can be taken apart by unscrewing four bolts.

Materials: Reclaimed Poplar. Low-VOC Waterlox finish.
