The derby table series includes this edition, designed in and for Kentucky. The resulting aesthetic is the combination of the old and new, rooted in the craft and visual culture of the region. Its modern cabriolet-style legs are a nod to the elegant lines of a Thoroughbred's quarters.
A dinner table for six.
Sculpted edge tabletop (1.25" thick) with mortise and tenon cabriole legs (CNC fabrication was used).
The legs are each glued-up chestnut and the table top is a glue-up of chestnut boards in an atypical aesthetic. The chestnut was sourced from a barn in Clay Co., Kentucky and is well over 100 years old.
Considerations of craft and regionally-influenced design combine to create this piece of heirloom quality furniture.
