New design/build boathouse.
Initially, the homeowner wanted a simple garage in which to store his sailboat during the winter. But, the local architectural review board had other ideas.
After numerous meetings and re-designs the homeowners received the go-ahead to build a mini-version of their home at a cost at least 3 times that of a basic structure.
Admittedly, the end result is an absolute asset to the property and the neighborhood as a whole. And, the homeowners are happy. But, this is an example of the what can happen if an architectural review board is the key to getting a building permit.
