Squared, scalloped plates are one of my most favorite things to work on in the studio. They come in two sizes; one is 7"x7", the other is 9"x9". The smaller plate is perfect for enjoying a slice of grandma's homemade apple pie or loading up with a healthy pile of fresh greens! The larger plate is a great stage for the main course or for serving up a selection of special hor d'eourves at your next dinner party. Either size looks fantastic displayed on the wall with a simple plate hanger that you can pick up at any local arts/crafts store!

Each plate is made by hand by me and starts as a lump of porcelain clay that is rolled out into a 1/4" thick slab. The slab is draped over a mold, the foot added, and the edges of the plate cut and shaped. Colored clay slip are applied with a metal-tipped squeeze bottle to create the fabric-inspired surface designs which you can see and feel. Various designs are available and personalized elements like names, dates, favorite flowers can be incorporated. All of my work incorporates a limited color scheme of pink, lite yellow, and lite blue.

The plates are glaze fired to cone 6 in an electric kiln in my home studio. Glazes are lead free and food safe.
