Table Sculpture - Doudou A Moué (Farewell My Love)

Doudou A Moué, Farewell My Love, is the title of a song from Martinique. It tells of the little things, the color of his lover's dress, the beads of her necklace, that the singer will miss when he leaves the island perhaps never to return. In this piece you see the arch of her neck, her earring, the over sized choux (cabbage) beads that form her necklace and the ruffle of her dress. I wanted to capture the poignancy of those smallest of details that create the potency of our memories.
The panel incorporates fused glass to add depth and dimension to the choux beads and the ruffle. The panel is set in a mahogany frame which is securely anchored in a slate base that is also framed in mahogany.
