one of my draped figure series, this one is on a full sheet of 8.5x11 paper, with clean edges. she is unframed, unmated, unmounted; it's just the painting itself. she is turned from the viewer, face hidden, gathering a cloth about herself, reminiscent of a Grecian statue, but far from cold and stoic, the sketchiness of the ink and washes of thinned acrylic in the grooves of the gessoed surface give a sense of movement to a still form. the colours are cool and neutral, blues, greens and greys, making her skin glow all the warmer.
