Dressing Mirror

This is a project that I did to play around with curves. It took forever to get the flow of the arms (or technically standards) just right in the design. Traditionally they are much more vertical, but I love the big loop that I added at the bottom to help the mirror part flow into the base. It has a serpentine front, which gives the case a little flow as well. I found a beautiful walnut crotch veneer to use for this piece. I book-matched the pieces across the top and front, which means the two sides mirror one another. Sticking with the mirror theme I finished it with a high gloss coat of shellac. Cherry accent lines and beading add a nice finishing touch to make the veneer pop.

Dimensions: 20"tall by 20" wide by 10"deep
